TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. Eligibility

Nominations are open to performers, producers and industry members who are based in New South Wales. All nominees must be 18 years or older. Self-nominations are welcome unless otherwise stated in the category description. Individuals, shows or businesses can be nominated in multiple categories, but can only win once per category.

The burlesque community Australia-wide is welcome to vote in the BOA Awards, but nominees must be based in NSW.

 

2. Nominations

Nominations are open for 2 weeks from the official launch date. Each nomination must include the nominee’s name or stage name, category and a short reason for nomination. Duplicate nominations from the same individual will be reviewed and consolidated. Only nominations submitted via the official online form will be accepted - social media comments, DMs or emails are not valid entries.

 

3. Finalists

After the nomination period closes, the top 10 nominees in each category (based on number and quality of nominations) will move forward as finalists. In cases where nomination counts are tied or unclear, the BOA Awards may use discretion to determine the final list. All finalists will be contacted prior to public announcement.

 

4. Voting

Once finalists are announced, community voting will open for a limited period. Each individual may vote once per category. Duplicate or suspicious votes may be reviewed and, if necessary, removed. Voting will be conducted through a secure, verified online platform to ensure fairness and integrity.

 

5. Judging & Results

Winners will be determined by community vote. All results are final and cannot be appealed. The BOA Committee reserves the right to amend categories or withhold awards if insufficient nominations are received.

 

6. Code of Conduct

The BOA Awards are founded on celebration, respect and inclusivity. Participants agree to engage respectfully both online and in person throughout the nomination, voting and award process.Harassment, discrimination, bullying or public disparagement of nominees, finalists or winners will not be tolerated. The BOA Awards exist to celebrate our diverse community - not to compare or compete in bad faith.

 

7. Privacy

Personal information collected through the nomination and voting process will only be used for the administration of the BOA Awards. Contact details will not be shared or used for marketing without explicit consent.

 

8. Event Attendance

Nominees and finalists are warmly encouraged to attend the BOA Awards Ceremony, but attendance is not required to win. Absence from the ceremony will not impact results.
