Nominations for the 2025 BOA Awards are now closed. Our finalists have been determined based on the nominations submitted by the Australian burlesque community, recognising those who have inspired, created and shone within the NSW scene.

The BOA Awards exist to honour the dazzling history of burlesque while celebrating the vibrancy of the NSW scene today. These awards spotlight artists, producers and creatives who have contributed to shaping our community with passion, innovation and heart.

Celebrates an instructor who demonstrates outstanding teaching, mentorship and commitment to students’ growth.

3. BEST BURLESQUE PRODUCTION

Honours a show, production company or recurring event that showcases creative excellence, professionalism, diversity and audience engagement.

4. MOST INCLUSIVE BURLESQUE PRODUCER

Acknowledges a producer who fosters accessibility, diversity and inclusivity across their productions including BI/POC, LGBTQIA+ and Disabled, Deaf/Hoh cast and crew.

5. BEST BURLESQUE PRODUCER

Honours a producer who consistently delivers high-quality, well-organised, professional shows and ethically engages with cast and crew.

6. BEST BURLESQUE VENUE

Acknowledges a venue that actively supports burlesque performance, community and artistic expression.

7. COMMUNITY STAR

Honours an individual or group who has significantly contributed to the growth, connection and wellbeing of the burlesque community including BI/POC, LGBTQIA+ and Disabled, Deaf/Hoh communities.

8. BURLESQUE COSTUME DESIGNER OF THE YEAR

Recognises excellence in costume craftsmanship, creativity and attention to detail within burlesque performance.

9. BEST BURLESQUE MUSIC EDIT

Recognises a performer or editor who delivers exceptional sound design or music editing that enhances performance quality.

10. BEST BURLESQUE PHOTOGRAPHER

Acknowledges a photographer whose work captures the artistry, glamour and spirit of burlesque performance.

11. BEST BURLESQUE MC

Celebrates an MC who embodies charisma, wit, professionalism and seamless stage presence.

12. QUEER EXCELLENCE AWARD

Honours an LGBTQIA+ artist, producer or production company who champions visibility, authenticity and impact within the community.

13. BEST CLASSICAL BURLESQUE

Recognises an artist who embodies the timeless elegance, glamour and technique of traditional burlesque.

14. BEST NEO BURLESQUE

Celebrates an artist who pushes creative boundaries through innovation, storytelling and unique expression.

15. BEST REVEAL

Awards an artist whose act features an outstanding costume or prop reveal moment that is memorable and skillfully executed.

17. HALL OF FAME

Celebrates a long-standing contributor whose legacy has shaped and elevated the burlesque community in NSW. This artist should have been a professional burlesque performer for a minimum of 10 years.

18. BURLESQUE ARTIST OF THE YEAR

Recognises an outstanding artist whose work, artistry and contribution define the spirit of NSW burlesque.
